Tension gripped Ketugram Assembly constituency in East Burdwan district on polling day after six live crude bombs were recovered near a polling booth. The incident occurred close to Booth No. 35 in Biruri village, triggering immediate security action and raising serious concerns over election-day safety in the area.
According to police sources, the bombs were found inside a nylon bag kept in an open area a short distance from the booth. The recovery of six live bombs prompted a swift response from local police and central forces, who immediately cordoned off the entire area to prevent public access and ensure voter safety.
A large deployment of security personnel has been stationed at the site, and the bomb disposal squad has been informed to safely defuse and remove the explosives. Local residents have been kept away from the spot, while the area remains under strict surveillance amid ongoing polling activity.
Questions have emerged over how such explosives were placed so close to a polling station on the day of voting and who may be responsible for the act. As of now, no individual or group has been identified, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the origin and intent behind the recovery of the bombs.
